The Biscuit Thief
"The Biscuit Thief” was many years in the making. An idea sprouted nearly 20 years ago while I was visiting Arkansas’ White River.
Beneath the dam stood a restaurant with a panoramic view of the water. Inside, dozens of vintage boat motors hung from the ceiling.
I wondered, “what else could these motors be on their own?” and, “who might use them without a boat?”
Balanced just right, an old Evinrude becomes a perfectly reasonable chase vehicle—especially if you’ve got a stolen Milk Bone to recover. And doubly so if the thief is a swift, slightly rude kestrel.
Propulsion geeks may argue the veracity of the physics, but it still feels like something you might’ve just missed if you’d looked away at the wrong time.
